For senior Sophia Miller, art has seemingly run in the family. When looking for Sophia’s inspiration, her family is the first place to start.

“I always considered my mom and grandfather to be pretty artistically talented. I think I looked up to them a lot when I was younger and wanted to be able to draw and photograph like them,” Sophia said..

Although she has always expressed an interest in art, there was a time when her interest heightened.

“I don’t think I really appreciated my love for it until my friend recommended to me a manga called ‘Blue Period’. It definitely inspired me to take my art to the next level,” Sophia said.

She has done her best to expose herself to different art styles. She has taken part in many of the art electives that DV has to offer. Sophia has taken part in Photography, 3D Art and Design, and Ceramics, as well as AP Art History and AP Studio Art. She will also be taking Ceramics 2 and Jewelry Design in the spring

Though her family were the first to inspire her, Sophia cites her fellow students as current inspiration.

“My AP Studio Art class is a wonderful inspiration. They’re all extremely talented and unique in their own ways and they continue to inspire me to do better and to branch out in my field,” Sophia said.

Following graduation, she hopes  to study graphic design abroad in Germany.
