New partnership allows students to be showcased during football games
In an effort to increase awareness of school activities and accomplishments at Delaware Valley, student journalists will be conducting interviews with other students in the school district who are to be played during halftime and during some ad breaks of the varsity football games. This opportunity has been given to the school with a partnership between Delaware Valley High School and Neversink Media Group LLC.
On Oct. 14, the first interview was conducted by senior Lucas Pauley and high school principal Dr. Nicole Cosentino. Lucas interviewed four members of SACC: seniors Aden Dierksen, Paulie Weinrich, Sophia Ball and junior Sophie Alario. Dr. Cosentino interviewed senior Kiley Huttman and juniors Aiden Black and Dom Moyer, members of Student Council, about DV Y.E.L.L.S. and how students can take part in the new initiative.
On Oct. 21, student authors and sophomores Shayla Dech and Gia Scimeca interviewed juniors Autumn VanHorn and Hailey Balogh about their novel “Empire to the Earth and Back.”
“The students had an awesome interview with these kids. These two authors sound like amazing kids and the journalism students had great questions. I am very excited about this partnership,” sports director Kevin Halpenny said.
On Oct. 31, junior journalism students Kat Quinn and Cassie Joyce interviewed seniors Adam Slate and Brandon McElhaney, who have committed to the military after high school. This interview is slated to air on Nov. 4.
