Students, faculty support Socktober charity
The junior class officers organized the Socktober collection drive in order to support clothing donations for homeless shelters.
Homeroom teachers showed their students an online advertisement for Socktober. The class officers placed collection boxes at the front of the school for students to drop their donations in.
An estimated 600,000 people are homeless in the United States. While homeless shelters receive clothing donations, they lack the amount of socks they receive.
Socktober is a worldwide charity that helps donate socks to people in need.
“DVHS did a great job in participating in the Socktober movement, for all grades, but we will strive to bring in even more donations in the future,” junior class president Dominic Moyer said.
In total, the junior class collected 489 pairs of socks for Socktober.
