Warriors defeat Wolfpack at Homecoming
The football team defeated Wilkes-Barre 35-24 on Oct. 8, improving their season record to 3-4. Senior Paulie Weinrich, and juniors Ryder Machado and Tyler Bird scored a combined five touchdowns. In the first quarter, Machado had a 73-yard interception return for a touchdown.
“I am really pleased that our guys didn’t quit and that they fought for the whole game,” said head coach Keith Olsommer.
Bird had a total of 161 passing yards, junior Aiden Black had a total of 109 receiving yards and Weinrich had a total of 99 rushing yards. The team had 128 rushing yards and 161 passing yards. Junior Everett Bell made 5 of 5 extra point kicks.
According to coach Olsommer, the standout players on offense were Bird, Weinrich and Black and defensively were Machado, sophomore Carter Faubel and junior Kolton Handy. Handy contributed to the defense with a total of 23 tackles.
“Thanks to all the student body who were here to support us,” coach Olsommer said. “It means a lot to the kids, and it was great to see a packed house.”
The Warriors play tonight in a pink out game against Valley View at the stadium at 7 p.m.
