Netflix introduces new changes around the world
In the first half of 2022, Netflix saw a large decrease in their amount of subscribers. This lead to hundreds of jobs being cut in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, prices have been cut into parts. This is coming at a time when Netflix is facing increased competition from rival services now that more people around the world have more choices when it comes to entertainment.
Netflix has also recently cracked down on password sharing because they estimate 100 million people around the world use shared accounts. With growing competition in the streaming market, customers are cutting back on subscriptions due to the rising cost of living.
In Canada, New Zealand, Spain and Portugal subscribers have now been asked to set up a primary location for their account and manage how to access the account. This requires customers to pay an extra fee if they want friends and family who don’t live with them to share their subscription. The company saw a rise in user numbers in the last three months of 2022. Up 7.66 million, its total paid subscribers worldwide is now nearly 231 million.
