Rotary Club announces essay winners, gives out prize money
After reviewing 23 essays submitted by Combo students in Mrs. Leslie Lordi’s and Dr. Cosentino’s Combo 11 class, the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club announced their first, second and third place winners. Junior Kat Quinn received first place, junior Danielle Wasileski received second place and junior Eunice Choi received third place.
In addition to their placing, the three juniors were invited to a luncheon with the Rotary Club members. Here they will read their essays and receive their cash prizes.
Quinn’s winning essay was centered around community participation and initiatives, as she felt that there were not many activities and events happening after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I was younger, the town was more involved. Community participation is the best part of a town,” Quinn said.
She also has the opportunity to win $1,000 after qualifying for state competition.
