On Saturday, Oct. 21, students in the band went to North Warren High School to compete and took first place.
Their show consisted of performances from their colorguard, percussion ensemble, and winds section. As for the show’s makeup, they performed an opener, ballad and a closer.
Their performance was judged based on their musical and visual performance, adding up to a score of () which allowed them to place first.
Marching band seniors Shaeleigh O’Leary and Nev Rhein explained that although they felt they performed well, they definitely have room to grow before Nationals.
“It wasn’t the best run of the show,” marching band director Mr. Richard Bullock said.
He said that he was proud of the group but knew they could do better, and jokingly explained that part of the blame was to be put on the extreme winds they faced while performing.
The band will compete at Nationals on Nov. 5 in Allentown. At Nationals, they will be competing against 17 groups consisting of over 150 bands. They hope to continue to practice and improve their performance in hopes of doing well again.
