Model UN attended their final convention of the year at Bloomsburg University, which is part of the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania on March 31.
Model UN is a mock United Nation Conference for high school and college students.
The conference began with a keynote address from a professor at Bloomsburg about his experience in the UN as a representative for Ghana. The students then broke into committees where they focused on certain global issues. Throughout the day, delegates were able to begin standard voting procedure, open moderated or unmoderated debates.
The club has grown from six to 14 students over just one year.
Advisor of Model UN Mr. Scott Nielsen is proud of how everyone performed and is excited to see what next year will bring.
“I want to keep or even grow membership for next year,” Mr. Nielsen said. “I’m not worried about winning accolades at the competitions because I think going and participating is valuable enough.”
