Baseball ended its season in the District 2 6A quarterfinal with a 0-10 loss against Scranton High School. The team ended its season 8-10.
“The season was a mixed bag,” head coach Mike Murray said. “We were better than last year but fell short in a few games.”
Despite the early playoff exit, the team had several high points. Most notably, a six-game winning streak that showcased their grit, teamwork and overall potential.
Coach Murray credits senior Frank Pedone as a stand out player. Pedone was also this year’s Warrior Award recipient.
“He constantly provided strong offense, great defense and stable pitching,” coach Murray said.
According to coach Murray another key performer was senior Trevor Phillips, who was an anchor in the lineup with a .409 batting average.
Coach Murray applauds this year’s group of seniors for their constant effort to show up and work their hardest every game.
Looking ahead to next season, coach Murray will lean on a core of promising underclassmen including juniors Liam Onofry and Tim Jason and sophomores Alex Calvario and Londyn Hernandez.
“Hitting the weight room and working to increase my strength on the field will prepare me [for next season] as there is always improvements to be made,” Jason said.
