This Day in History: Gettysburg Address

On this day, 1863, the 16th president Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The speech was given four months after the bloodiest battle of the Civil War; The Battle of Gettysburg. More than 45,000 men were killed with many others being injured. Lincoln said, in less than 275 words, why it was so important for the Union to fight and eventually win the Civil War.
