Reading Olympics Team wins first place at the Spring Challenge

 

 On April 20, The Reading Olympians Team, coached by Mrs. Alison Newman, won first place against 13 other teams competing at Easton High School. 

“They were thrilled to hear they won first place,” Mrs. Newman said. 

The team consists of members from all grades including; Gianna Ataide, Amber Blas, Olivia Bogert, Ashantia Dicette, Maxine McNamara, Daniella Perunsky, Rachel Swinton, Lajhia Rosario, Ciara Ni-Chinneide, Kayla Montaperto, Isabella Sevek, Julianna Hopper and Ella Dong. 

The Spring Challenge involves different teams competing by answering trivia questions about a list of 35 books each team read throughout the school year. The team took first place by answering questions about some books including,  “Long Way Down,” by Jason Reynolds and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” by Jonathan Safran Foer. 

“Despite missing a few members, the team worked- hard and represented DV with pride and perseverance,” Mrs. Newman said
