Hollywood is getting lazy

The film industry has grown lazy in their efforts to put out new movies. Movie remakes are quite popular and sometimes they make sense, but the overabundance of them is unnecessary.

For instance, if a horror movie like “A Nightmare on Elm Street” was remade, it would be based on the same story and would certainly be scarier because of the special effects that are used now in comparison to when the movie first came out in 1984. When the movie first came out, it was terrifying, but now when people watch the movie, it looks cheesy because the special effects are outdated. Therefore, a remake was essential here to update the portrayal of the story and show viewers that they could be scared from the same story but with better effects.

Disney, on the other hand, has no excuse. Every couple of years, Disney decides that they don’t have enough to work with, so they make a lousy live action movie about a Disney princess or classic that they haven’t butchered. I see what they are trying to do, but it just doesn’t work. Take the “Lion King”; you already have the original movie that came out in 1994! Then Disney waits 30 years to release a mediocre—at best— movie with CGI and “better” special effects.

Disney could tell so many better stories instead of recycling old films by making them live action. We don’t need live action remakes of Disney movies. I believe that the whimsical animation and voiceovers from the actors tell the story much better than unnecessary CGI of animals.

Honestly, unless you have an action-packed movie that would look amazing and benefit from a live action remake, don’t ruin a perfectly good classic movie because you have run out of new ideas.
