Field hockey defeats NY rivals 3-1
The field hockey team beat Pine Bush on Oct. 7 3-1 to kick off homecoming weekend. They improved their record to 2-10-1 for the season.
Senior Rebecca McFeely scored the first goal with an assist by sophomore Ava Kraszewski. Sophomore Ava O’Grady scored the other two goals, assisted by Krazewski and sophomore Ciara Newton. Sophomore goalie Jenna Zuelch had 6 saves.
During the first half, according to head coach Marielle Cavallaro, the team was not communicating well or making the passes they wanted to. In the second half, however, their communication improved.
“We connected and talked well. We were talking proactively instead of reactively,” sophomore Kayla Sykes said.
Throughout the season, the team has been improving by fine tuning skills to make them better players all around.
“We’ve been fixing the little things to improve. Working on passing, communication and quickness is making us better,” coach Cavallaro said.
