Nerds Gummy Clusters is a treat that has crunchy, colorful Nerds on the outside and a sweet gummy candy on the inside. There are many different flavors of the Gummy Clusters, such as very berry, rainbow, grape strawberry blitz, cherry lemonade blitz and berry punch rush.
While there are many different flavors of Gummy Clusters, the ingredients are all more or less the same. The main ingredients include: corn syrup, sugar, gelatin, food starch, malic acid, citric acid and apple juice concentrate.
Other ingredients listed, such as gum arabic and carnauba wax act as binding agents. This means they help the Nerds stay on the cluster instead of falling off while being eaten or simply sitting in the bag.
Many other gummies have similar ingredients to the Gummy Clusters, however certain candies use pectin instead of gelatin making them vegetarian.
In addition, the Gummy Clusters do contain Red 40 and other food dyes. The amount of food dyes in them isn’t enough to have many negative effects due to the serving size being 16 pieces. The amount of food dye present is also known to be a small percentage of the product due to its location on the ingredients list.
As long as they are eaten in moderation and consumers are aware of more importantly the amount of sugar in them.
Although there are multiple different fun flavors, the nutrition facts are the same, 100 calories per serving, 0g of fat, 40mg of sodium, 25g of carbs with 21 of those grams being sugar and 0-1g of protein. The high amount of sugar should be taken into consideration when purchasing because one serving is 42% of your suggested daily sugar intake.
They also have festive packaging and other fun flavors for various holidays. This includes frosty for Christmas, spooky for Halloween, hoppin’ for Easter and valentine for Valentine’s Day. The festive flavor choices are all the same flavor Nerds aside from the color to match the holiday.
