Engineering 4 students have been working on a prototype designed to assist in construction and warehouses. This prototype is intended to allow workers to lift heavy materials without injuring their lower backs.
Every year, the students taking Engineering 4 are tasked with a problem they must solve with a prototype. The goal is that the prototype can be helpful with that task in the future.
Seniors Joseph Benavides, Carl Wallenburg, Cody Mueller and Alan Lin have been working on designing the prototype all year, but have been building it for a month.
“We designed it first by sketching it and then we turned it into 3D models,” Benavides said. “Then from those, we started making the actual physical prototype using parts from different companies.”
The students have been taking engineering classes all through high school and believe that it will be helpful for their future careers.
