“Ding!” Was the sound that greeted me when I walked into Jersey Mike’s on Nov. 22—two days after their grand opening.
I ordered the Jersey Shore Favorite. It had a mix of ham, cappacuolo and provolone, giving the sub a balanced flavor. The bread was the star. Soft but not soggy, sturdy but not tough. Every bite had a good structure, and the bread had that slight chew that made it feel legit.
The toppings pulled everything together. The lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes tasted like tomatoes and the red wine vinegar and olive oil blend added a bright finish.
It was one of those sandwiches that hits every part of your mouth at once—salty, bright and soft. It left me sitting there thinking that this sandwich was made with the intention to impress in mind.
The service helped seal the deal. The workers were friendly, quick and efficient, putting together orders with an infectious energy that left a smile on my face. They moved fast, without feeling rushed, and the whole place ran and felt as if they cared about the food.
Overall, Jersey Mike’s doesn’t reinvent the sandwich as it doesn’t need to. It’s fresh, reliable and genuinely good.
