The field hockey team lost a hard battle 6-0 to Honesdale on Sept. 29, making their overall record 2-11.
“Honesdale has a system of play that is about speed and attack,” head coach Marielle Cohen said. “They ended up with a lot of opportunities and eventually goals are going to go in.”
Coach Cohen credits the team for playing hard for 60 minutes and focusing on the right things.
“It is very hard to be in a losing season, but they [her players] do a nice job of staying positive and making improvements on what they can,” coach Cohen said.
Coach Cohen applauds the team’s goalie, sophomore Caitlin Luciano, for having over 20 saves in the game, as well as junior Jordyn Ciarelli for playing a strong defensive game. According to Coach Cohen, captains, senior Ella Smith and junior Savannah Liz played a tough and competitive game.
Although the majority of the varsity team is made up of underclassmen who are still learning about the sport, they are gaining quality experience. This leads coach Cohen to be hopeful for the coming years’ predicted success.
“[For the end of the season, I hope we can] continue improving on offensive and defensive corners, outletting and connecting as a team on offense,” coach Cohen said.
