Men’s March Madness tournament kicks of first round March 20

Del.Aware staff to host March Madness ‘Bracket Battle’

The annual NCAA Division 1 Men’s March Madness tournament begins with Selection Sunday on March 16. Brackets will be released at 6 p.m. ET and will close on March 20 prior to the tip-off time of the first game.

The tournament consists of 68 teams competing for their chance to be champions. The set schedule is as follows:

First Four: March 18-19
First Round (64): March 20-21
Second Round (32): March 22-23
Sweet 16 : March 27-28
Elite Eight: March 29-30
Final Four: April 5
Championship: April 7

The Del.Aware staff will be hosting a school-wide “Bracket Battle.” You can enter a free bracket for a chance to win a prize. Prizes will be awarded to the top three brackets at the end of the tournament. Scores and standings will be updated on our website as well as Yahoo Fantasy under Men’s Bracket Mayhem.

If interested, use your personal device and click this link. Then sign up with the password delawaremadness25 and your personal email. On Sunday, March 16 the brackets will be released. From there you will have until brackets close on Thursday, March 20 to finish your selections. The goal is for your bracket to be the closest to perfect. You can make your picks based on any strategy, whether it be highest ranked teams, underdogs, favorite teams or even just a guess. No prior knowledge is required because anything can happen and anyone can win!

Senior Lauren Donnelly will be this year’s Lifestyle Co-Editor. Lauren is also a part of the Del.Aware’s social media team, sports broadcast team and events committee. Other than writing on staff, Lauren partakes in school activities such as volleyball, where she is a two-year captain, softball, where she is a three-year starter, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, National Honor Society and Student Council. Lauren loves being a part of the school community and getting involved with all events she can. “The Del.Aware gives me the opportunity to spread school spirit to our entire community and student body,” Lauren said. After high school, Lauren will be attending college where she will major in sports marketing and management. She also hopes to play volleyball at the collegiate level.
