Over the summer, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) both had their National Leadership Conferences (NLC). Members from both organizations attended and had success in their events with many receiving national recognition.
FBLA attended their conference June 29 – July 2 in Anaheim, California, with 19 high school members attending. Members were able to compete in various competitive events and workshops where they learned new and exciting ideas.
“My favorite workshop was a shark tank one where members were able to interact with each other and create fun new ideas” freshman Veronika Martin, Chapter Vice President at Large #3, said.
The chapter had success at the conference with five high school events placing in the top 15 and five middle school events placing in the top 10 nationally.
Outside of the conference, the members took part in fun activities during their time in Anaheim. They attended a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game, visited Huntington Beach and enjoyed a day at Disneyland.
FCCLA also attended their NLC July 5 – 9 in Orlando, Florida, with 18 members attending. Members took part in leadership training sessions, workshops and competed in their competitive events.
Out of the 18 members attending, two placed gold, five placed silver and one placed bronze. Outside of competing and attending workshops, FCCLA was able to embrace the magic of Orlando. The group had breakfast with Disney princesses, visited Magic Kingdom, and enjoyed a special after-hours experience at Universal.
“It was great to meet people from all across the nation in FCCLA and interact with them at Universal,” junior Emma Wentworth said.
