This Day in History: John Lennon killed

On this day, 1980, Beatles member John Lennon was shot four times while attempting to enter his New York City apartment. Mark David Chapman, a fan of the popular rock band, shot the artist at close range and voluntarily remained on the scene until police arrived. Lennon died on the drive to the hospital.
