One of the most well renowned R&B duos of the 2010s announced their international tour “Some Special Shows 4 You” early this past June. Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR took their collaborative album “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” to Europe this summer.
They released their first song together “Over Here” in 2013 as a part of PND’s “Seminole” mixtape. Since, they have produced hit after hit including Grammy nominated “Come and See Me”and “Nokia,” which went top 10 on the Billboard Top 100, and “Loyal” which went platinum not once, but twice.
Both of artists amassed a huge fan base that accounts for 100 million monthly listeners. PND last went on tour overseas in 2015, while Drake just finished his solo international tour this year. The tour took place entirely in Europe, starting in Birmingham, United Kingdom and ending in Hamburg, Germany on Sept 23.
They performed in highly regarded stadiums such as the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Accor Arena in France and the biggest of them all Finsbury Park in London which holds about 50,000 people.
The tour consisted of solo performances from Drake and PND as well as them coming together during the show. Throughout the tour, they brought a variety special guests such as Yebba, J hus and most notably 21 Savage.
Drake performed some of his slower songs like “Feel no Way” and “Marvins Room,” a hit song that sold 10 million units and reached diamond status. PND performed some of his most well known songs such as “Recognize” and “Break from Toronto.”
A review from the Observer described the show as “wildly entertaining.”
These sold-out shows with ticket prices ranging from $136 all the way to $2,500 are logistically challenging for the average fan to attend due to its overseas venues and fast-selling tickets. The shows bring a unique experience due to the overseas venues and large arenas, which leads to mixed reviews from fans throughout the tour.
