Welcome new teacher Mrs. Jodi Kresse, to the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) healthcare program, where she brings years of professional healthcare experience and a passion for helping others.
Mrs. Kresse has been a registered nurse since 2009. And she was the nurse at the high school from the 2020-25 school year. When the opportunity to teach became available, she said it felt like the right next step. Teaching allowed her to share her love for healthcare and caring for others with students interested in medical careers.
“I thought it would be great to pass my love of nursing and health care and taking care of people on to our future generation of health care workers,” Mrs. Kresse said.
A graduate of Delaware Valley, Mrs. Kresse remarked that she felt a strong connection to the school and its community. She credits her time as a student as being helpful to prepare her for the future.
“Giving back to the community where I grew up was really important to me,” she said. “I had such great experiences here as a student.”
This year, Mrs. Kresse’s main goal for the healthcare CTE program is to provide students with strong foundations and meaningful experiences that will help them succeed after graduation. Her teaching style focuses on flexibility and meeting students’ needs. Mrs. Kresse said she believes that hands-on learning is one of the most efficient ways for students to not only develop skills but also build confidence.
“By seeing, touching, feeling and doing, you learn best,” Mrs. Kresse said.
According to Mrs. Kresse, interpersonal skills are some of the most important qualities for students interested in healthcare careers. She emphasized the importance of communication, compassion and respect when working with patients who may have different backgrounds.
Mrs. Kresse describes the program as rigorous but supportive. She acknowledges that healthcare can be a challenging career path but is committed to helping students succeed if they are willing to put in the effort. She believes that hard work makes success achievable.
